FACT SHEET
FleetBoss
Global Positioning Solutions, Inc.:
Founded in 1998. The Company produces, markets and sells systems
that monitor the locations and activities of fleet vehicles,
providing valuable productivity information to fleet owners
and managers. The Company markets FleetBoss® fleet management
systems, based on Global Positioning Satellite technology,
and FleetBoss AutoGraphics® software, which analyzes and
reports the data in easy-to-read graphic formats.
GPS
- Global Positioning System:
The GPS network includes multiple satellites orbiting the
earth at a distance of approximately 20,000 miles. The satellites
provide detailed positioning information, generally using
a four-satellite system - three satellites to triangulate
a position and one to measure altitude.
The
GPS network was developed in the 1970's by the US military
and was declassified in 1982 for commercial use. The system
is accurate to within 30-feet. However, for security reasons,
a built-in error code randomly limits GPS accuracy to within
100-feet.
FleetBoss® Fleet Management Systems:
FleetBoss® systems combine GPS-based tracking data and
proprietary software to deliver an informative, cost-effective
way to monitor drivers' efficiency and productivity. The systems
provide managers with key vehicle data such as start and stop
times, number of stops by address per day, mileage, maximum
speed, idle times, routes traveled and more.
The systems can also be customized to monitor service equipment
usage. For example, a carpet cleaning company can use FleetBoss®
to track the number of times per day the cleaning equipment
is turned on or off; the amount of time the equipment is used
at each stop, etc.
FleetBoss® systems use a small antenna on each vehicle
that links it to the GPS system which can then monitor each
vehicle's activity 24 X 7 X 365. The vehicle data is then
easily downloaded into the user's master database, providing
a permanent history of the entire fleet operation.
Basic
System Components:
Antenna - mounted on the vehicle.
Vehicle Unit - a small device, mounted inside the
vehicle, collects the data.
Base Station - a peripheral device that connects to
the user's computer, receiving the download data form the
vehicles.
Software - converts raw data into useful, management
information.
FleetBossBoss® 2500 System:
This system provides managers with automatic access to vehicle
reports and driver information within minutes of the driver
returning to base. When the vehicle returns to home base,
the vehicle unit automatically transmits all recorded vehicle
data via its internal 900 megahertz wireless radio to the
base station located within one quarter mile of where the
vehicle parks. In addition to the powerful graphing software,
this system has 5 customizable inputs for measuring events
such as motor on/off; door open/close, or almost any action
the driver can take with the vehicle.
FleetBoss® 4500 System:
The world's first all-in-one fleet management solution providing
active, real-time Automatic Vehicle Locating (AVL) with passive,
stored data, too. From the manager's computer and in less
than ten seconds, a single vehicle or group of vehicles can
be located anywhere within 99% of the populated areas in the
USA.
"Reverse
Channel" notification is also available whereby the
vehicle can communicate with the base station in real time,
providing information such as speed, idle time or any on-board
activity parameters you select. Managers can adjust to any
situation, as a situation presents itself.
FleetBoss AutoGraphics® Software:
Transforms the raw data collected by FleetBoss® system,
into easy-to-read chart and graph formats, allowing companies
to compare a single vehicle's weekly or monthly activities,
or compare the entire fleet against established benchmarks.
The
software enables managers to quickly monitor productivity
and efficiency across an entire fleet, or in groupings by
vehicle use - delivery vehicles as opposed to service vehicle,
for example.
"Passive" vs. "Active" Systems:
FleetBoss® 2500 systems use "passive" GPS data,
meaning the information is downloaded into the database after
a designated period of time and when the vehicle or memory
module is in proximity of the base station. For example, at
the end of a week, or a day or a shift, when a vehicle or
the memory module returns to the parking place or home station.
FleetBoss® 4500 system uses both "passive"
and "active" technology providing either post-event
or real-time data. Real-time, or active data communications
is enabled using both GPS and cellular technology and therefore
does require additional cellular network fees.
System
Benefits:
FleetBoss AutoGraphics® software provide many benefits
to companies with vehicle fleets, as well as to the drivers
themselves.
Companies
are able to better monitor productivity and efficiency,
leading to better fuel costs and enhanced driver safety,
which in turn leads to decreased liability and insurance
premiums. Better efficiency also translates into additional
time for sales, delivery and service calls, thereby directly
affecting profits.
Fleet
Management Systems also benefit employees by enabling companies
to institute vehicle take-home policies and implement driver
incentive plans based on captured productivity data. In
addition, the permanent records provide employees with protection
against false customer complaints or false accident claims.
