The story of FleetBoss Global Positioning Solutions began with the entrepreneurial spirit and leadership of founder, chairman and CEO, Larry Carroll.

Twenty years ago, Larry charged into the electronic security business, founding CrimeFighter of Central Florida. By 1986 the company repositioned itself under the name, Crime Blocker, selling high-end monitored systems in order to take advantage of the significant recurring monitoring revenue.

As a pioneer in the field of "2-Way Voice" monitoring systems, Larry then started an affiliated company called Champion Security Distributors. With Larry's research and development funding, Champion created a product called "The Verifier" which it sold to alarm dealers nationally and internationally. The Verifier introduced extraordinary value to the security industry in two ways: first, by giving homeowners immediate professional help during crisis situations; and second, by enabling remote alarm verification, which radically decreased false alarms, a benefit welcomed by emergency authorities.

Larry then established his own central monitoring station, CBI Monitoring, as another profit center. CBI Monitoring was located in Fern Park, Florida, at the present site of the FleetBoss corporate offices. CBI offered wholesale monitoring for other alarm companies as well as for Crime Blocker's own accounts. In early 1988, Larry added the AT&T ® Wireless Security ® line. He developed a dynamic sales presentation; coupled it with aggressive marketing efforts; and built a powerful, success-motivated sales force. Crime Blocker became the largest volume dealer of AT&T wireless security systems in the United States for five years running, earning Larry Carroll the honor of being named as a finalist for INC. Magazine's "Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 1991.

Throughout the early 1990's Crime Blocker, Champion, and CBI continued to grow through increased sales and outside acquisitions, gaining operations in 8 states and providing monitoring services for alarm companies in 30 states. In 1996 Larry Carroll "retired", but not in the true sense of the word, as he stayed active in the business world.

During this "retirement period" Larry grew aware of the world of the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and became interested in the concept of applying GPS technologies to fleet vehicle management. To learn more he traveled extensively, visiting manufacturers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Holland and Germany. After a careful study of the industry, Larry recognized a tremendous opportunity to introduce proven business principles into a burgeoning market. In November 1998, he envisioned the current business and began to carefully select qualified dealers to distribute a new, innovative GPS product called The Boss ® fleet management system.

To ensure that customers received the best possible GPS system, Larry contributed resources for continual research and development. He also brought together a corporate staff of dedicated professionals, many who had served on the Crime Blocker team, to carry out the new mission. By January 1999 The Boss ® system included an improved software application which added mapping capability to the standard reporting functions. Following in the FleetBoss tradition of continual product improvement, product developments included the completion of innovative product upgrades and creation of the FleetBoss AutoGraphics ® software solution. For the first time, comprehensive vehicle data was combined with easy to generate management reports.

The year 2000 was marked with an expansion of facilities and continued growth of the national network of dealers who now provide local service in major markets from coast to coast. New product development reached its final testing stages for the world's first dual, stored and real time fleet management system. In early 2001, The Boss® 2500 system and The Boss® 3500 system, utilizing 900 MHz RF to download information from vehicle to base station, are introduced at the first national dealer conference. FleetBoss introduced another first, using the control channel of the national cellular network to send and receive vehicle position data. The Customer Service Center was also established to meet the needs of the growing dealer network.
